Shabina Faraz is a freelance Journalist, columnist and
features, articles, and travelogues writer. She is a first class first position
holder in Masters with Urdu literature. She started her career as an editor in
entertainment magazine Jassosi digest. She has written many stories, TV dramas
and articles on various issues. She is among the pioneer of environmental
journalism in Urdu print media in Pakistan. For last 13 years, she has been
writing on environment and development, women and child and health issues in
daily Jang. Appeared on electronic media as an environmental expert and shared
my researches and insights on environment and social issues. Documentaries on
the oil spill near Karachi coast and marine pollution are marked as the most
significant jobs she have done. She is currently writing on social and
environmental issues in various publications and specially in Daily Jang.
She has won 3 Green Media awards, 2 Green Journalist
awards, Environmental Excellence award and Agahi award 2013 as the journalist
of year in the Climate change category. She has been awarded the Green
Journalist award by the former Prime minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza
Gillani in 2009.
She holds fellowship for the South Asia Climate Change
Award (SACCA) for the year 2013 as an active journalist on climate change
issue. She has visited India to participate in the 3rd South
Asian Conference of Sanitation (SACOSAN III) held in new
Delhi in 2008, visited Turkey to attend the 5th World Water Forum
in Istanbul in 2009 and Nepal to participated in Climate change workshop
including many other events, workshops and projects.
Shabina Faraz is the founder of Green Media Initiatives a
nonprofit organization working for promotion and Strengthening of environmental
journalism. She has a firm belief on new breed of environmental journalist to
work better than before to save the globe provided encouragement and training.
